Non-Public Student Transportation

Enrollment and student information is expected to come directly from the non-public school. DSD relies on the information given by the school of attendance.

In May, non-public schools are sent the following materials in preparation for the next school year. DSD expects to receive the documentation by July 1.

  • Non-public May Data Collection requests for current school information, school calendar and student roster for the upcoming school year
  • DSD Calendar
  • DSD/Non-public School Bus Transportation Request form
  • Alternate Transportation Request form
If families have submitted the School Bus Transportation Request and information has been validated by the non-public school, families can expect Bus Assignment letters the second week of August. Specific information regarding transportation for non-public school students is provided with the bus assignment letter.

FAMILIES SEEKING TO HAVE DSD TRANSPORT THEIR STUDENTS TO A NON-PUBLIC SCHOOL must submit a School Bus Transportation Request form. Families requiring their student to be transported to a location other than home for custody or babysitting purposes must review and submit the Alternate Transportation Request form.

Weather relayed days:

Weather closings: When DSD closes for weather, no bus operates (even if nonpublic school is open).

Please refer to WGAL notifications.

Weather early dismissals: When DSD dismisses early for weather, DSD will also pick up nonpublic school students early. The DSD transportation coordinator will call or email nonpublic schools with the time of dismissal for Donegal-resident students. If nonpublic schools dismiss early for weather, DSD will send a bus early for students.

Weather delays: Nonpublic schools follow DSD schedule for delays (if DSD is on time but nonpublic school is 2-hour delay, DSD bus runs on the schedule of the nonpublic school. If DSD has a 2-hour delay but nonpublic school is on time, DSD runs 2-hours late).

Questions or concerns regarding bus assignments may be addressed by submitting a Bus Assignment Review form to the District transportation coordinator. Reviews will be conducted upon receipt. Families are asked to be patient with a response, as volume of submissions will dictate response time.

Concerns brought forth after the second week of August will be held for investigation two weeks after the start of school.

SchoolBlocks offers a unique and powerful personalized search system. A member of the public, searching for "homework" might see an announcement from the school as the first result. However, if the user is logged in, they would see their teacher’s latest homework assignment as the top result.
